Enshrouded is out of Early Access. Keen Games released version 1.0 on October 15, 2026, and on October 19 the survival action RPG reached a daily peak of 90,443 concurrent players, good for 29th place on Steam's most played chart that day. A week before, it was outside the top 100. On the morning of October 20 (04:41 UTC), 38,811 people were playing, rank 25 by current players, and the game sits at number 2 in the German Steam top sellers and number 5 in the US store.

Notebookcheck dates the start of Early Access to January 24, 2024, and counts eight major content updates since then. GameStar, writing of almost three years in Early Access, counts nine.

The finished map

The developer's Steam post from October 14 lists the main addition: the gates past the Veilwater Basin are open, and behind them lies Cinder's Cradle. The biome has two layers, a lava wasteland with ruins on the ground and floating islands above it, both defended by new guardians. Two further Hollow Halls open in the Albaneve Summits and the Veilwater Basin, while Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes grow outward to the edges of the world. Old structures whose hidden entrances players had searched for over years now open as part of the main quest, and Keen Games writes that the story of Embervale is concluded "for now".

German outlet PC Games counts 14 new enemy types and nine new kinds of spells, and says every lore text is now voiced in German, English and Mandarin. The press does not agree on the level cap: PC Games has the character cap going from 50 to 55, PCGH lists 50 for the character. GameStar notes that Dietmar Wunder, Daniel Craig's German voice, reads the German texts. PCGH also describes a new system for designing, building and sharing your own adventures.

The launch is not PC-only. PCGH reports a simultaneous PS5 release, and Notebookcheck says that version supports PS5 Pro, with Xbox Series X|S now planned for spring 2027. Groups can reach 16 players on PC and eight on PS5, according to PC Games, which adds that Keen Games is working on cross-platform co-op. Notebookcheck notes that dedicated servers remain a PC feature for now.

Players who know Valheim or Necesse will recognize the open world, survival and base-building tags. Terraria shares the open world, survival and online co-op tags.

How the launch is going

Steam users rate the game Very Positive, with 85 percent of 109,155 reviews favorable. GameStar gives it 87 out of 100, and its headline says the full version blew past all of the reviewer's score predictions. PC Games points to enemies that get stuck in the world and pathfinding that is not always optimal. Within 24 hours of release, PCGH counted 65,204 concurrent players; the record of 160,405 dates from January 28, 2024. Notebookcheck writes that the game has reportedly sold more than five million copies.

Keen Games has already shipped two hotfixes. Hotfix 1.0.0.1 on October 15 came with a warning: a sound problem shows up whenever the master volume slider is below 100 percent, so the studio advises leaving it at 100 and lowering volume in Windows instead. Hotfix 1.0.0.2 on October 16 removed a grey fog rendering bug on Nvidia cards and a rare crash during save migration. Corrupted character saves are skipped during migration for the time being, and the studio says a fix is coming.

Anyone who bought during Early Access does not pay again, PC Games reports, though the developers suggest a fresh save because many improvements went into the first hours. New buyers currently pay $35.99, a 10 percent discount on the regular $39.99. Notebookcheck reports that Keen Games intends to add content for years, and PC Games says a DLC is not ruled out.
