Pih 2

I booted up Pih 2 expecting a taste of the weird from the original—and I got a full-course feast of chaos. This sequel keeps the ridiculousness (Pihgators and Shark-Hawgs are back in spirit) while adding more guns, mobility and absolutely unforgiving one-hit deaths. Think of it as arcade precision wrapped in a fever-dream art style: every run is short, furious, and somehow hilarious. If you liked fast retry loops and being humiliated into getting better, Pih 2 will probably be your new obsession.

One Shot, One Lesson

Pih 2 is built around a very simple, ruthless premise: everything can kill you in one hit, and you can kill most enemies in one hit. The core loop is beautifully straightforward—enter a level, collect all required items, learn enemy patterns, and repeat until you stop getting "BACONATED." Movement is snappy: double jump, slide, and quick weapon swaps are important tools you learn to chain as you go. Levels are short but dense with traps, ambushes and gimmicky set pieces that punish hesitation. The result is a rhythm where death isn't the end but the primary instructor; every humiliating respawn teaches a tiny detail you missed. It feels like speedrunning a comedy sketch, where timing and execution beat brute force.

The Absurd Menagerie & Ridiculous Toys

What lifts Pih 2 out of being just another punishing shooter is its cast and toys. The Pih variants—the Pihgator, Shark-Hawg, Hogoon and Birdhawg—each come with their own little idiosyncrasies, forcing you to adapt rather than mash. Weapons variety has been expanded since Pih 1, and switching between three firearms mid-fight often feels like juggling chainsaws while riding a balloon. Speaking of balloons and boats: vehicles are intentionally wonky, gloriously unreliable, and the primary source of many "what just happened" moments. That design choice is genius in a trollish way—vehicles create memorable chaos and emergent stories, even if you spend half your time accidentally ramming scenery. There's also a score system and seasonal structure (four seasons, twelve levels each plus a boss) that gives an arcade-y push to improve runs.

Chaos By Design: Audio, Art and Performance

Visually, Pih 2 embraces a colorful, over-the-top palette that leans into absurdity rather than realism. Environments pop and the character design is memorably bonkers—this helps each death sting a little less because it’s funny to look at. The sound design and the shouting narrator (you will hear new voice lines, and some players even miss the old narrator) add personality and a lot of comedy value. Performance-wise, most players report smooth runs on Windows but some note optimization hiccups—expect occasional frame drops on less powerful rigs. Accessibility options are light; there's demand for things like an FOV slider and a narrator toggle, which would be welcome additions. Overall the presentation deliberately balances clarity for fast gameplay with visual gags that reward exploration.

Pih 2 is a triumphant, messy, hilarious sequel that leans hard into difficulty and personality. It's not for everyone—if you hate repeated humiliation you’ll be frustrated—but if you enjoy learning through pain and laughing at your own misfortune, it’s a brilliant ride. Recommended for fans of fast retry loops, arcade scoring, and weird indie audacity.
