Moon Sweepers: patch 1.0.5 overhauls building, peak hits 69,935 players

The co-op Moon cleaning game reached rank 42 on Steam's most played chart as its two-person team shipped patch 1.0.5 with a reworked building system.

Moon Sweepers entered Steam's most played chart at rank 42 on October 28, 2026, with a daily peak of 69,935 concurrent players. A week earlier it was not in the top 100. On the same day, developer DragDrop Games released patch 1.0.5, which reworks how building works. The co-op cleaning game, out since October 23, also sits at number 2 in the German Steam top sellers and number 5 in the US.

What patch 1.0.5 changes

According to the official "Moon Sweepers 1.0.5 Patch" post of October 28, every piece can now be built on dusty ground, so players no longer have to clean the ground first. Pieces can go on, under and beside foundations, and a new move mode picks up a piece together with everything standing on it and places it again for free. Removing a piece now refunds its full price instead of 75%, and machines snap to the foundation they are aimed at.

The patch also fixes a freeze that hit some worlds about half a minute after loading, on both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12. The cleaning robot J.O.O.N.A.S. now fires capsules at the emptiest catcher in the nearest group, and the 10,000 limit on capsules lying on the ground is gone: a world can now hold up to 90,000 in total. A new setting stops the vehicle camera from re-centering behind the vehicle, and starting a public game now triggers a warning about what other players can do to your Moon.

A rough launch, fast patches

On October 24, the developers posted "A Message From the Developers", admitting that "the launch hasn't been perfect" and listing reports of crashes, performance issues, multiplayer bugs, lack of automation and progression balancing. They describe themselves as a team of two. Patch 1.0.3 that day made upgrades shared across the whole crew, gave hosts kick and ban controls and, by the developer's own tests, raised frame rates by up to about 20%. Patch 1.0.4 on October 25 let J.O.O.N.A.S. clean without dock trips and keep working when no players are nearby, cut save times on large bases to a fraction of a second and added automatic backups.

Steam user reviews stand at 78% positive out of 2,623, rated Mostly Positive. An earlier capture of the English store page showed 80% of 1,277 English reviews as positive. German site Mein-MMO reports that players describe a cozy atmosphere and enjoy the cleaning, but complain that they get through the upgrades too quickly while only a small part of the Moon is clean. PC Games Hardware says criticism targets the automatic camera and problems placing conveyor belts. In the Steam forum, current threads report multiplayer desync and sectors that look clean but stay at 0%.

SteamDB had reported a peak of 62,957 concurrent players on October 27. On October 29 at 05:41 UTC, 39,924 players were online, rank 23 by current players.

Moon Sweepers sends up to 16 players out to collect and sell lunar dust, upgrade their tools and unlock cleaning vehicles. In the catalog, Satisfactory and ASTRONEER share its Automation, Base-Building and Co-op tags, while PowerWash Simulator shares Co-op and Simulation.

The game costs $7.64, 15% off its regular $8.99; the store data does not say when the discount ends. SteamDB lists Windows as the supported system. The developers say they will keep working on remaining crashes and performance problems, automation reliability, progression balancing and quality-of-life improvements, and PC Games Hardware also reports that further balancing and performance work is to follow. Anyone starting now gets a cheap game whose launch problems are being patched quickly, with the developer's own list of open issues still long.
