semiwork released R.E.P.O. v0.5.0, The Sunstone Update, on October 29, 2026. The developer calls it the game's fourth major update, and it brings a new map, a new enemy, gamepad support and localization in 21 languages to the Early Access co-op horror game for up to six players.

What the update adds

The headline item in semiwork's official Steam post is a whole new map, Sunstone Valley Resort, together with a new enemy called Pony. The existing maps grow as well: Headman Manor and McJannek Station get five new rooms each, Swiftbroom Academy and the Museum of Human Art four each. New items include the Human Gun, the Human Adventure Cable and the Recharge Orb, plus 10 new cosmetics.

Several changes affect how runs play out. Players can now hold items up to the shopkeeper for a chance at a discount, at the risk of having the item destroyed. An expression wheel works with mouse and gamepad, climbing and swinging have been reworked, and semiwork says loading levels causes fewer freezes. Dead players possessing their death head can now discover valuables, and when a level runs short of valuables to finish extraction, smaller ones now spawn near the team.

Destructoid reports that the update has also kicked off a Halloween event called "Pleasing the Moon", available for a limited time. According to its guide, submitted loot has to intercept laser beams at the top, the towers get taller as you level up, and the reward is pumpkins worth approximately 35 % of the loot you submitted. The writer says: "I certainly wish this mechanism were added permanently."

Players and background

On Steam's most played chart, R.E.P.O. stood at rank 30 on October 29 with a daily peak of 51,169 players, 28 places higher than a week earlier. On October 30 at 17:41 UTC, 56,189 people were playing, with a peak of 60,646 that day. The game holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from 431,621 user reviews, 95 % of them positive.

Sunstone follows a quiet stretch: SteamDB lists the previous patch, v0.4.4, on May 25, 2026. Before that, semiwork had announced the Cosmetics Update for May 7, and the Monster Update arrived at Halloween 2025, adding 10 new enemies according to GameSpot.

R.E.P.O. has been in Early Access since February 26, 2025. The store page estimates "around a year and a half of early access" and lists player customization, meta progression, more story elements, more levels and enemies among the plans for 1.0. PC Gamer reported that semiwork called localization a "big task" and fundamental for the 1.0 release; that localization is now part of Sunstone.

For anyone thinking of starting or returning, the game currently costs $6.49 on Steam instead of $9.99, a 35 % discount. The store page also notes "we might do a price raise when 1.0 releases." SteamDB lists Windows as the supported system, and Nintendo announced in its new Indie World Showcase that R.E.P.O. launches for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
