R.E.P.O. Sunstone Update adds Sunstone Valley Resort map and Pony enemy

semiwork's fourth major update brings a new map, new rooms and items, gamepad support, 21 languages and, per Destructoid, a Halloween event.

The Sunstone Update for R.E.P.O. went live on October 29, 2026. In its Steam post, semiwork calls it the "fourth major update" for the co-op horror game, which is still in Early Access and supports up to six players. The headline additions are a new map, a new enemy and gamepad support.

New map, new enemy, bigger levels

The centerpiece, according to the official notes, is Sunstone Valley Resort, a whole new map, joined by an enemy named Pony. Four existing locations get extra rooms: five each for Headman Manor and McJannek Station, four each for Swiftbroom Academy and the Museum of Human Art. The item list grows by the Human Gun, the Human Adventure Cable and the Recharge Orb, and there are 10 new cosmetics plus an expression wheel.

The patch also brings gamepad support and localization in 21 languages. The shopkeeper now lets you hold up an item for a chance at a discount, with the risk, in semiwork's words, of "having the item destroyed". Level loading should freeze less, and when a level no longer holds enough valuables to finish extraction, smaller ones now spawn a short distance from the players.

Destructoid adds something the patch notes leave out: according to the site, the update "kicked off a Halloween event" named Pleasing the Moon. When you submit loot, a beam of laser light appears at the top, and the loot has to reach it. Because the towers get taller as you level up, careful stacking matters. Destructoid says the event runs on all maps for a limited time and pays out pumpkins worth "approximately 35% of the loot you submitted".

According to SteamDB, the previous patch, v0.4.4, dates from May 25, 2026. Destructoid places an earlier major update, the Monster Update, on Halloween 2025, and PC Gamer reported back then that the game was free to play that weekend.

Charts and first reactions

Steam's most played chart had R.E.P.O. at rank 17 on October 30, with a peak of 61,936 concurrent players that day; a week earlier it sat at rank 50. At 05:41 UTC on October 31, about 35,800 people were online. Reviews are arriving faster: 987 in 48 hours, roughly 494 per day compared with 150 in the days before, and 96 percent of them positive. Overall the game holds 95 percent positive across 431,861 reviews, which Steam labels Overwhelmingly Positive.

Few reactions so far deal with Sunstone directly. A Russian-language thread in the Steam community says the game became unplayable with Thunderstore mods because all options vanish from the main menu. Another player wants to know when achievements are coming. The patch notes, as reproduced by SteamDB, list one mod-related fix: modded clients could previously join a lobby without showing up on the player list.

R.E.P.O. currently sells for $6.49 instead of $9.99, a 35 percent discount; the store page does not say when it ends. SteamDB lists Windows as the supported system. Anyone who plays with Thunderstore mods should read the forum reports before updating, and the moon event is only around for a limited time. On monetization, PC Gamer reported earlier that developer Pontus was firm that "microtransactions do not have a place in REPO at all".
