Omni Systems has announced Eufloria 2, the first direct sequel to its 2009 indie strategy game. The project is in active development for PC and Steam Deck, with no release date announced. A Steam page is already live for wishlisting and future development updates.
The sequel keeps the original idea of conquering asteroids, harvesting their resources and growing floral units, then expands it with evolution and ecosystem systems. Players will be able to influence how their units evolve, create new strains of life and shape the environments around them. The announced design sits between real-time strategy, 4X and cozy simulation, with both strategic challenges and calmer exploratory play promised.
The most important addition may be the Godot-based editor. Omni Systems says Eufloria 2 will support extensive modding, new game modes and community-facing development, including closed tests for players who join the project early. That approach echoes the original game's relationship with its players and modders, while giving the sequel a way to grow beyond its campaign.
For now, the announcement is a promise rather than a playable release. There is no launch date, price or confirmed console version. Players interested in a distinctive alternative to conventional space 4X games can wishlist Eufloria 2 on Steam and follow Omni Systems for the next development update.
