Odd Bug Studio has launched Blood & Brine, a free post-game expansion for Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, adding a coastal region, new quests, bosses, fishing, and indie crossover armour.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter has a new reason to welcome back its battle worn rat hero. Odd Bug Studio released Blood & Brine on August 21, 2026 as a free expansion for the action adventure game. The add-on is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Blood & Brine moves Arlo from the frozen north to Hardshell Brook, a coastal area built around a new post-game adventure. Players must finish the main campaign before they can set sail, so this is endgame content rather than an alternate starting point. The expansion contains 11 quests and 10 new boss fights, with encounters designed around new attacks, hazards, and battles that can take place on ship arenas.
The seaside setting also changes the rhythm of exploration. A new fishing system lets Arlo search different spots for 32 aquatic creatures, gradually filling an aquarium connected to the story of two shipwrecked sailors. The expansion adds nine armour sets and new music, giving returning players practical rewards as well as a fresh visual identity for the Ratdom.
Blood & Brine is also a small celebration of independent games. Its crossover armour is inspired by Blasphemous, Cult of the Lamb, Dave the Diver, Death’s Door, Moonlighter, and Beyond Galaxyland. Odd Bug Studio says each design was redrawn for Arlo and adapted to the hand drawn medieval world instead of being copied directly.
The expansion is free, while the base game is discounted by 60 percent on PlayStation during the Ready, Set, Play promotion running from August 12 through August 26. That makes the launch especially easy to approach for players who have not yet started Arlo’s campaign, although the new quests remain locked until the original story is complete.
For existing players, the clearest reason to return is the combination of a new region and a different combat space. Hardshell Brook introduces open water, ship battles, fishing, and a new collection of armour without asking players to buy another story chapter. For newcomers, the discount offers a lower cost entry point, but Blood & Brine is best understood as a substantial post-game destination rather than a replacement for the original adventure.
