The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series drops to $4.99 on Steam

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is 90 percent off on Steam until November 5, 2026. The complete collection costs $4.99 instead of the regular $49.99.

According to SteamDB, the price is part of the Telltale Walking Dead Franchise Sale 2026, which Skybound Games runs from 22 October to 5 November. One listing on SteamDB's front page gives 4 November as the end date instead, so anyone planning to buy should not leave it to the last day.

What the collection contains

The store page lists all four seasons, 400 Days and The Walking Dead: Michonne, with over 50 hours of gameplay across 23 episodes. When the collection first launched, PC Gamer also pointed to the extras: ten hours of developer commentary, a documentary short and a graphic black mode that "brings the game closer to its comic inspiration".

This is not a new release. PC Gamer reported that the Definitive Series first came out on 10 September 2019 on the Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store; the Steam version followed on October 29, 2020. According to PC Gamer, publisher Skybound Entertainment helped finish off the last season and assembled the definitive edition. Skybound Games is listed as developer and publisher on Steam.

Reception

Players on Steam rate the collection highly: 96 percent of 48,071 user reviews are positive, which Steam labels Overwhelmingly Positive. On the PlayStation Store, the PS4 version holds an average of 4.86 out of five stars from 17K ratings.

Kotaku, writing about an earlier Steam sale, described the series as full of "heavy, often heartbreaking choices" and praised the tension between choices and consequences that runs from the first episode through all four seasons.

Anyone hoping for more episodes should know the last official word in the sources is old. In May 2020, Skybound said "we currently have no plans for a Season 5", as Nintendo Life reported, and a Skybound statement quoted by Pure Xbox that year called a revival "very unlikely".

For anyone who has never played Telltale's Walking Dead, or who stopped partway through, $4.99 for all 23 episodes is the reason to look now. The discount runs until November 5, 2026, with the caveat that one SteamDB listing names November 4.
