Warzone Season 1 adds Hajin map and Modern Warfare 4 integration on November 6

Warzone Season 1 starts November 6 with the Hajin and Zodiac maps, a full Modern Warfare 4 merge, a level reset and a Switch 2 launch.

The free-to-play battle royale inside the Call of Duty app on Steam, which also hosts Modern Warfare 4 and Black Ops 7, is about to change substantially. In an official Steam post on November 2, the developers detailed Warzone Season 1, which goes live at midnight ET on November 6 (2100 PT on November 5) and fully integrates Modern Warfare 4.

The headline addition is Hajin, a new Battle Royale map that, according to the post, takes Warzone to South Korea for the first time, in a region tied to the Modern Warfare 4 campaign. GameSpot reports that Hajin has the same points of interest as its DMZ version and keeps that mode's dynamic weather with rain and fog. Alongside it comes Zodiac, a compact Resurgence map built around a drone manufacturing headquarters. At launch the playlist offers Battle Royale and Resurgence with Casual variants, Rally Point, Massive Resurgence and Loaded Resurgence. Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers follow at mid-season.

The sources differ on the older maps. GameSpot writes that all other Warzone maps will be removed. Windows Central says Verdansk will join the Battle Royale rotation at some point during the season, and Activision's October 28 Season 1 post mentions the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island without giving a date.

What changes for players

According to GameSpot, Season 1 starts a new Warzone year, so every player is reset to level one. Black Ops 7's omnimovement is removed, and battle royale moves to Modern Warfare 4's movement. Windows Central reports that Tactical Sprint becomes available to all Operators without a Perk, with a slightly shorter duration, and that players can drag allies while reviving them. New Elite Perks add a fourth perk to the loadout and are found in-match at Buy Stations. The official post also lists the Zipline Launcher, the Grabber Drone, moveable fuel barrels and pushable cover, and Windows Central says the Aston Martin Dreadnought from DMZ joins Warzone.

Older guns stay, with limits. Activision's blog says Legacy Weapons remain usable but cannot be edited in Gunsmith and do not support Modern Warfare 4 features such as Mastery Camos. Instead, a five-attachment version of each Legacy base weapon will be available. Destructoid specifies that this covers everything from Modern Warfare 2 (2022) through Black Ops 7 (2025). GameSpot also reports an operator-skin toggle that filters out the unusual skins added in recent years.

The platform list shifts too. The blog says Season 1 launches Warzone on Nintendo Switch 2, while the game will no longer be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Windows Central points to Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce Now as alternatives. Modern Warfare 4's own Season 1 goes live at the same time, with the maps Backstab, Canyon and a reimagined Shoot House, the X01 Black Site in DMZ, and the CSG-35 SMG and Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle.

Where Modern Warfare 4 stands

Modern Warfare 4 went live worldwide, as announced in a Steam post on October 23. Push Square's review round-up is headlined "Modern Warfare 4 Is the Highest-Rated Call of Duty in 15 Years" and calls it "a strong return to form". Player numbers draw a less clear picture. Game Rant, via Steam News, reported more than 200,000 concurrent Steam players in the opening weekend. Windows Central, citing SteamDB, writes that this is roughly 30% fewer than Black Ops 6, which peaked at 306,460 in October 2024, while noting the game was the number one best seller on Steam at release. Notebookcheck cautions that the SteamDB tracker includes many Call of Duty games, which makes single titles hard to judge.

As of November 2 at 23:41 UTC, the app ranks sixth on Steam by current players, with about 135,000 people online and a daily peak of 165,351. Its 801,535 user reviews are 58% positive, rated Mixed.

For returning Warzone players, Season 1 costs nothing to try, but expect a fresh level grind, a new movement system and, per GameSpot, a reduced map pool at launch. Windows Central notes the midnight ET start means 5am in the UK.
